The struggle of village youth Kangeyan (Rajnikanth) to get justice for his brother’s wife is the story of ‘Oorkavalan’. Kangeyan educates his younger brother Manickam in the city. Manickam falls in love with Mallika, the daughter of the village Panniar. Mallika’s marriage is fixed with Dorai (Raghuvaran), but she refuses and declares her love for Manickam. Kangeyan gets them married, but the village head priest, pretending that he has divine powers, kills Manickam. Kangeyan is unable to see Mallika as a widow and decides to get her married again – to Pandian, a cart driver. Dorai intervenes again and Kangeyan learns the truth behind his brother’s death. What will he do next?
