Arun (Rajinikanth), comes to India from Singapore to settle down with his parents. Here, he meets Chitra (Purnima Jayaraman), a professional dancer. After the initial misunderstandings, both fall in love with each other. A mysterious person tries to kill Arun, and his father tries to save the murderer. Amazed at his father’s behavior, Arun questions his father only to learn that he is not their true heir. He also learns that a lady named Laxmi who is given asylum in Chitra’s house is his real mother. On probing, he finds out many bitter truths. How he deals with all the problems and emerges victorious forms the crux of the story.
